Loading-dose series protocol
- Nebulize 3 mL Alpha2EQ® combined with 3 mL saline or LRS.
- Series of six doses spaced at 48-hour intervals.
- It is recommended to hand-walk the horse while nebulizing.
Duration of response
- Varies between one month and ongoing (more than six months).
- Some horses (higher initial WCS) remain on a single dose monthly.
Anecdotal BAL results post-protocol have shown decreased neutrophils, eosinophils and mast cells. Using a bronchodilator prior to Alpha2EQ® has been helpful with severe mucus cases.
